Spring 2010

Winter passed me by, probably because I am actually a lizard and hibernate with my books, computer and tapestry. Why subject yourself to cold icey winds when you could be inside enjoying "warm" jobs!
So lovely to see the manchurian pears covered in white blossom because it is now September, and the bulbs are appearing throught the box hedges and under the silver birch trees. Yesterday I picked a bunch of forget-me-nots, hyacinths and daffodils from my garden for my mother's 87th birthday and it was a joy to do so. The ducks are sitting on dozens of eggs and the chickens are laying well after a very sluggish winter in the egg department. No goose eggs, just learnt that I have four boys! (That answers that question.) My friend has geese sitting on twenty four eggs so I will gain a girl from that little lot. It is always so sad, however, to lose some to the dreaded crows. Guess this is life.

Autumn

What a fabulous time of the year this is...leaves turning, sun weakening and longer shadows. Where I live, this is the time for visitors. Have had my cousin from Perth for 4 days and just said goodbye to L, N and J after a lovely night together, reminiscing and planning. After a cup of tea in the courtyard we ambled through the paddock to the dam, crossed the bridge and sat on the island in the cool breeze and setting sun and watched the ducks and geese bathing and splashing.

The poddy calf was fed as were the chickens and we settled inside around the table for an easy meal, a glass od wine and a lot more storytelling and laughs. Friends, what would we do without them.? The past can be picked up and added to without any pretentiousness. Muffins for breakfats this morning and whilst N and A went for a fly over the district the girls continued on with future plans i.e blogging.....so here I am!
